Our AMD Ryzen 9 9950X Server Infrastructure and What It Changes

Core count is what most people look at when choosing a server. Yet game servers, web applications and many databases run a large part of their work on a single core. That is why our infrastructure favours processors with strong single-core performance.

Why single-core performance?

Minecraft runs world logic, FiveM runs game logic and Garry's Mod runs gameplay code largely on one core. For these workloads a high-clock processor gives a smoother experience than sixteen slow cores. On the web side PHP requests are processed on a single core too, so higher frequency means shorter page generation times.

What the infrastructure includes

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processors
  • DDR5 memory
  • NVMe SSD storage — low latency, especially for databases and game servers
  • 10 Gbit network
  • Layer 3, 4 and 7 DDoS protection — RouteFence® infrastructure with 8 global POP locations and 6+ Tbps of filtering capacity

Resources are allocated to you

On VDS plans the CPU, RAM and disk are allocated to you, and you get full administrator access inside the server: install the operating system you want and run the software you need. From the client panel you can install Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, AlmaLinux, Fedora, Red Hat and Windows Server, and manage your own .iso files through the ILO/KVM interface.

Which workload needs what?

What NVMe SSD changes

NVMe drives work with far lower latency than SATA SSDs. The difference appears not when copying one large file but when many small reads and writes happen at once. Database queries, a game server's world save and concurrent session handling all behave exactly like that, which is where NVMe pays off.

Watch your resource usage

Track usage during the first week after you get the server. htop and free -h on Linux, Task Manager on Windows, are enough. If RAM is constantly full, upgrading the plan makes sense; if RAM is free but the CPU is maxed, optimising your application is the cheaper fix.

Delivery time

After payment your server is installed and delivered automatically. Once delivered, the IP address, username and password appear in your client panel; connect over SSH on Linux or Remote Desktop on Windows.

First steps after delivery

  1. Change the password. Start with the one in the panel, then set your own strong password.
  2. Update the system. apt update && apt upgrade on Linux, Windows Update on Windows.
  3. Configure the firewall. Leave only the ports you use open.
  4. Restrict management access. Changing the SSH port or moving to key-based login removes most automated attempts.
  5. Set up monitoring. Even a simple alert for disk usage and memory warns you before a problem grows.

Which plan should you choose?

Decide based on whether this is a game server or a web project. For a game server, player count and mod load matter; for a web project, concurrent visitors and database size do. If you are unsure, write to our support team and we will suggest a plan for your use case.
