V Rising Server Setup: PvE, PvP and World Settings

Separate connection settings from game rules and plan PvE/PvP choices and world backups for a V Rising VDS.

Checking the version and installation source

Use Stunlock Studios’ instructions for your game version. Check changed fields before copying an older configuration. A running server process does not prove players can connect: test startup, network reachability and an actual client separately.

Host settings versus game rules

ServerHostSettings.json controls hosting/connection settings; ServerGameSettings.json controls game rules. Use the correct file and compare supported fields with version examples. Invalid JSON can prevent startup. Back up files and make a manageable number of changes at a time.

Agreeing on PvE and PvP rules

Agree on PvE/PvP, clan rules and world settings before inviting players. Follow official examples because option names and behavior can change. Back up an existing world before changing rules and verify effects in a test copy. Communicate the change window.

V Rising VDS and save management

Measure CPU, RAM and storage with your world save instead of selecting solely by slots. Backups on the same server are insufficient against disk loss. Store copies separately and test restoration. Clarify OS delivery, game installation responsibilities and the checkout total.

Setup checklist

1. Choose installation instructions for your game version.
2. Configure host and game settings in their separate JSON files.
3. Verify PvE/PvP and world rules with a test connection.
4. Back up saves separately and test restoration.

When something goes wrong

If startup fails, inspect JSON syntax and startup logs. If the process runs but connections fail, check version compatibility and network access separately.
